Hey, I'm Joao
I work as a project manager, I am a parent, and I currently reside abroad in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years ago I moved here with my family, and what started as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
Origins of Our Move
Moving to Portugal wasn't part of our long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it started with a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt tougher than they should.
The Transition Phase
Culture shock and uncertainty were part of the early days, with much learning on the job. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began shaping something that felt steady.
Why I Created Gliyeny Ennivk Rutu
Most online guidance is either corporate relocation tips or superficial travel content. What was lacking is a truthful, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap with practical advice drawn from real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on insights from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don't hesitate to contact me.
Cheers,
Joao
